What to look out for in an air-conditioner
1. Energy efficiency
Check the NEA Energy Label to understand the energy efficiency of the air-conditioning system. Superior air-conditioners have 5 ticks displayed on the NEA Energy Label.
2. The Right Capacity
BTU (British Thermal Unit)/hr measures the cooling capacity of an air-conditioner. You may wish to refer to our guide below on capacity requirements:
Small Room (100-150 sqft/9-14 sqm) - 9 kBTU/hr
Master Bedroom (150-250 sqft/14-23 sqm) - 12 kBTU/hr
Living Room/Halls (300-400 sqft/28-37 sqm) - >18 kBTU/hr
Actual heat load of the room to be cooled may vary. For a more accurate recommendation, please check with the installers when they visit your house for assessment.
